HAZUS-MH MR3 FAQs: Study Regions and Other HAZUS Usage
Are there any limits concerning study region names?
Study region names in HAZUS-MH can be up to 50 characters long. However, since the system references and stores the region name as a full path (for example, C:\Program Files\HAZUS\Regions\xxxxxx), the limit should actually be 190 characters but the interface checks only for the 50-character limit. Patch 1 for MR3 will increase the character limit to 256 characters and will validate both the full path length and the region name lengths. Note that problems still may occur if the user decides to store study regions in a folder with a name that is more than 206 characters long (256 - 50 = 206).
