Access papers fast with e-First
Access new papers from Proceedings of SPIE starting two weeks after a conference. (Papers
from on-site volumes will be accessible on the first day of the conference.) Papers are published online
upon completing the necessary pre-publication processing and approvals. Print proceedings and CD-ROMs will
follow completion of the online volume. For e-First publications, the electronic version is the publication
of record, and citation information will indicate the online publication date.
Citation numbering format
The citation format has changed from traditional page numbers to six-digit article identifier numbers
(CIDs). Utilization of article CIDs allows papers to be cited as soon as they are published online, using
the same identifier for both online and print versions. The structure of the six-digit article CID number
for Proceedings of SPIE is:
- The first four digits indicate the volume number.
- The last two digits indicate publication order within the volume, using the Base 36 numbering system
employing both numerals and letters. The CID appears on each page, followed by the page number within the
actual paper.
