The Monongahela National Forest District Rangers have worked with WVDNR area managers to determine roads that will open earlier than their normal schedule for 2008 to accomodate the early bear hunt scheduled by WVDNR. For more information click here.

Are You Bear Aware? Black bears are native to the Monongahela. With natural food sources being variable this summer people are reporting more encounters with bears than is usual. Visitors need to learn how to safely enjoy the National Forest while coexisting with bears. Please follow the links here to learn more:
