Electronic Navigational Chart Handler
Electronic Navigational Charts (ENCs) contain many data layers that are useful for ocean and coastal geographic information system (GIS) projects. Each ENC is a complex vector database containing approximately 180 possible data layers. Because of this, the Electronic Navigational Chart Handler extension has been developed to simplify the use of ENCs in ArcView 3.x and ArcGIS 8.3 and 9.x environment.
Sample Functions
ArcView 3.x
- Creates views, adds groups of shapefiles, applies symbols, and arranges themes in the table of contents.
ArcGIS
- Imports ENC data into defined geodatabase feature classes
- Assigns nautical chard symbology
- Removes extraneous data layers
User Requirements
- ENCs from the Office of Coast Survey.
- ArcView 3.x, ArcGIS 8.3, or ArcGIS 9.x
