Background
Michelle received her D.V.M. from the University of Illinois in 1993. After working as a small and large animal veterinarian in the Midwest, she returned to school to pursue a masters degree in marine science. Michelle received an M.S. from Oregon State University in 2000, with a major in Marine Resource Management and a minor in Earth Information Science and Technology. Michele has worked at the Center since December 2001, and is currently working out of the Pt. Adams Biological Field Station in Hammond, Oregon.

Current Research
Michelle is interested in using Landscape Ecology Principles and Spatial Statistical methods to investigate pattern and scale in aquatic ecosystems. She is currently using point pattern analysis methods to investigate clustering and "scales of significance" in salmon redds, and is investigating methods for performing spatially explicit community analysis. Michelle is working with colleagues to create a spatially explicit repository for non-indigenous species (NIS) in the Pacific Northwest, and to compile a review of the deleterious effects of NIS and expanded reach species on Pacific Northwest salmonids.
