Position Overview

This position is needed to support services being in-sourced from KSL. As a member of the Maintenance and Site Services Division (MSS-DO), the selected candidate will provide direct support to the maintenance function of a facility through the implementation and/or administrative control of a variety of maintenance programs, policies, functions, and objectives. Verifies that maintenance activities are performed within technical specifications, manufacturer's requirements, and/or generally accepted industry practices.

Summary

Provides direct or indirect support to the maintenance function of a facility through the implementation and/or administrative control of a variety of maintenance programs, policies, functions, and objectives. Verifies that maintenance activities are performed within technical specifications, manufacturer's requirements, and/or generally accepted industry practices.

Job Duties

  1. Safety and security are a primary responsibility for all Laboratory employees. Maintains required safety and security training, assures safety and security compliance, and makes safety and security an integral part of every task, including taking the necessary steps to stop work if continuing the job is unsafe or compromises security.
  2. Assists in the review and implementation of predictive and preventive maintenance programs on new and existing equipment.
  3. Generates and prepares reports to provide management with the history and current status of maintenance activities.
  4. Assists in assessments of maintenance activities and programs based upon existing programs, policies, objectives, and good maintenance practices.
  5. Recommends improvement elements to maintenance programs and action items.
  6. Assists in implementing approved program improvement recommendations, changes, and corrective actions.
  7. Serves as the administrative point of contact for specific maintenance activities and programs.
  8. May serve on committees to develop objectives, milestones, and schedules to meet specific objectives.
  9. Develops and recommend method improvements impacting the areas of safety, work implementation, planning, scheduling, and acceptance testing.
  10. Assists in forecasting and planning resources necessary to support maintenance activities.
  11. Coordinates maintenance for assigned facilities.
  12. Understands and adheres to all Laboratory and industry regulatory guidance and governance specific to facility maintenance.
  13. Ensures all facility maintenance results, materials, processes and final products meet quality specifications and are completed according to established requirements.
  14. Fosters a mutually respectful work environment that is free from discrimination and harassment.

Job Knowledge

  • Working knowledge of and experience with facility, mechanical, and/or electrical administrative maintenance.
  • Ability to fully understand and interpret various mechanical and electrical documents, blueprints, drawings, and schematics.
  • Ability to fully utilize and manipulate a computerized work management system, personal computer software, and site licensed programs in creating and maintaining maintenance reports.
  • Experience and demonstrated skill in conducting research, investigating alternative solutions, and recommending solutions on problems affecting facility maintenance and administration.
  • Ability to conceptualize and fully communicate major elements of facility maintenance to both technical and non-technical personnel.
  • Skill in the preparation and presentation of facility maintenance reports.
  • Full understanding of the Laboratory's facility maintenance policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Working knowledge of legal requirements and environmental impacts affecting facility maintenance and administration.

Education

  • Position typically requires a bachelor’s degree and a minimum five years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Direction

A. Supervision Received

  • Receives regular day-to-day functional and operational direction from immediate supervisor.

B. Supervision Exercised

  • Provides functional and operational direction to reporting maintenance support, and/or clerical employees, if assigned.

C. Contacts

  • Regular contact with maintenance/operations management, engineers, technicians, and other facility and operational personnel.
