Position Overview

MSS Work Control is developing "best-in-class" work management process that is safe, effective, and efficient. From laboratory office buildings to nuclear facilities, data centers, research facilities, our people deliver maintenance planning and scheduling to a broad range of clients. We plan everything from the mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and safety systems to specialized industrial equipment and critical systems. Maintenance Support Specialists help establish and monitor the preventative maintenance programs in assigned areas. They are responsible for on-going processes to identify routine maintenance requirements, estimated costs and proposed estimated costs. Key Position Requirements

Update maintenance history for equipment in the maintenance management system (CMMS). Maintain and simultaneously improve the program for preventive maintenance on equipment. Evaluate processes, programs, and procedures for potential improvements. Work in team environment and promote strong customer service. Assist the organization in achieving safe, effective and compliant operations, preventing pollution, minimizing waste and conserving resources.

Summary

Develops, monitors, and validates accuracy, and auditing of performance data, reports, and other statistical information. Maintains database and other programs as required for use in the development of performance measurements and other required data administration. Evaluates processes, programs, and procedures for potential improvements. Develops and maintains maintenance policies, processes, procedures and provides training in support of the conduct of maintenance program.

Job Duties

  1. Safety and security are a primary responsibility for all Laboratory employees. Maintains required safety and security training, assures safety and security compliance, and makes safety and security an integral part of every task, including taking the necessary steps to stop work if continuing the job is unsafe or compromises security.
  2. Develops an understanding of governmental regulations and Laboratory policies impacting the maintenance program to ensure compliance.
  3. Assists in gathering information necessary to develop, monitor and validate accuracy, and auditing performance data, reports, and other statistical information to ensure compliance with safety, quality, budget and schedule.
  4. Provides administrative support in maintaining database and other programs as required for use in development of performance measurements and other status reports.
  5. Assists in evaluating, processes, programs, and procedures for potential improvements.
  6. Under direct supervision, provides general issues management support, assists in reviews and compiles data, and supports management assessment activities.
  7. May assist in training for facility maintenance personnel on maintenance program.
  8. Develops an understanding of related documentation systems and ensures compliance with all applicable document control and records management activities and security/compliance implications.
  9. May provide formal and informal training in the use of various maintenance program processes and evaluate and critique performance.
  10. Assists in performing periodic reviews and assessments to ensure maintenance programs are implemented.
  11. Understands and adheres to all Laboratory and industry regulatory guidance and governance specific to maintenance and quality assurance programs.
  12. Fosters a mutually respectful work environment that is free from discrimination and harassment.

Job Knowledge

  • Basic knowledge of and experience with performance assurance metrics.
  • Basic knowledge of and experience with policy and strategy performance assurance, including policy and procedure development, implementation, and enforcement.
  • Full knowledge of and experience with document control and records management.
  • Clear understanding of work hazards, safety practices policies and procedures.
  • Experience and demonstrated skill in conducting research, investigating alternative solutions, and recommending solutions on problems affecting facility maintenance and performance assurance.
  • Skill to conceptualize and communicate major elements of processes supporting the maintenance program to both technical and non-technical personnel.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication.
  • Skill in the preparation and presentation of reports.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently.
  • Basic knowledge of the Laboratory's quality assurance policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Basic knowledge of legal requirements and environmental impacts affecting maintenance management.
  • Basic knowledge of Laboratory business and maintenance program systems.

Education

  • Position typically requires a minimum of two years related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Direction

A. Supervision Received

  • Receives direct day-to-day functional and operational direction from the division leader or maintenance manager.

B. Supervision Exercised

  • Provides functional and operational direction to reporting support, and/or clerical employees, if assigned.

C. Contacts

  • Regular contact with operations/maintenance management, engineers, technicians, and other operational and maintenance personnel.
