Twentymile Opens January 3
Twenty Mile open for over the snow-vehicle use. Please use designated Railroad Crossing. This is the only legal and safe place to cross the railroad tracks. Follow the corridor on the east side of the river. The west side of 20 mile is closed for the first 4 miles.

Chugach National Forest Opens to
Motorized Use
Most of the Chugach National Forest snowmachine areas, as identified in the Forest Plan, have opened to snowmachine use. Remember that this winter is the non-motorized season for the Resurrection Pass area. It is managed on a year-on, year-off strategy for motorized use.
Placer and Skookum Open...
Placer River drainage and Skookum drainage have opened to snowmobile usage as of December 15, 2008. Twentymile remains closed till further notice.

You can also call the avalanche hotline at (907) 754-2369 for current avalanche conditions and motorized openings.

Modified dates and partial closures of motorized use will be advertised by public announcement (Forest Order 02-07-10 signed July 10, 2002).
Violations of motorized closures may result in a fine.

Daves Creek EA hits streets
Project Information
The Forest Service, Chugach National Forest, Seward Ranger District, has completed an Environmental Assessment for the Daves Creek Restoration Project. This project will restore approximately 2,000 feet of the Daves Creek stream channel downstream of the Tern Lake outlet, replace the existing culvert with a bridge, and rehabilitate the existing trail, and reconstruct the fish viewing platform.
