Dear Friend of the Chugach,

The US Forest Service is proposing to issue special use permits to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for the environmental restoration of the North Dutch Island and Katalla abandoned air navigation communication sites.

The Forest Service is adopting the FAA’s Environmental Assessments for each project site.  The FAA proposes to demolish structures and remove debris and hazardous wastes.  Sites consist of 3 to 4 small buildings and two to three fuel storage tanks.

Individuals or non-federal organizations who submit written comments or otherwise express interest in these particular actions during the comment period specified at 36 CFR 215.6, have standing to appeal this decision.  Written, oral and electronic comments concerning this action will be accepted for 30 calendar days following the publication of the notice in the newspaper of record for the Cordova and Glacier Ranger Districts.
