Tongass Home » About the Tongass Information ProgramsSummer SeasonMany of the districts of the Tongass feature special programs for visitors and residents alike during the summer months. In addition, Forest Service interpreters aboard the mainline ferries of the Alaska Marine Highway share their knowledge of the resources and programs of the Tongass National Forest from Memorial Day to Labor Day. If you plan to visit the Tongass during the summer season, plan to take in some of these informative and enjoyable programs.
Winter SeasonWhile winter is a time of fewer visitors than summer brings, those who do come can join local residents who use the "slow" time to learn more about the Tongass National Forest and the resources it contains. Visitor centers in Ketchikan and Juneau provide regular programs throughout the winter. Other locations feature occasional programs as they become available. |
