Author of more than 40 novels published over more than 50 years, Elmer Kelton has been voted the Best Western Author of All Time by the Western Writers of America. He is the recipient of multiple distinguished and lifetime achievement awards and honorary doctorates. His books have won four Western Heritage Awards from the National Cowboy Hall of Fame (Oklahoma City), including The Good Old Boys, which was made into a cable television movie. Seven of his books have won the Spur Award from the Western Writers of America: Buffalo Wagons, The Day the Cowboys Quit, The Time It Never Rained, Eyes of the Hawk, Slaughter, The Far Canyon and The Way of the Coyote. His most recent books are The Raiders: Sons of Texas (Forge, 2006) and Six Bits a Day (Forge, Sept. 2006). Mr. Kelton lives in Texas.
