The Earth and Environmental Sciences (ESS) Division of LANL employs approximately 50 students and 15 postdocs on a yearly basis.

We offer many opportunities for students and postdocs to gain relevant research and work experience in a unique environment. Students and postdocs are involved in research and applied science in a variety of disciplines, inlcuding geology, hydrology, geochemistry, geophysics, geoengineering, geoanalysis, geotechnical engineering, atmospheric and climate sciences, risk analysis, and environmental sciences.

Student internship appointments range in length from a few months to several years, with many students working only during the summer months. Postdoc appointments typically are for 1-2 years.

News - This year's Student Symposium, "Championing Scientific Careers", will be held August 5-6, 2008 at the University of New Mexico-Los Alamos campus.
