Dr. William Dahut

An expert on prostate cancer, Dr. William Dahut heads the Prostate Cancer Clinic of the National Cancer Institute. He received his undergraduate and medical degrees from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. He then completed his internship in internal medicine at the Naval Hospital in Portsmouth, Virginia. He continued his training with a residency in internal medicine at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland. This was followed by an NCI fellowship in hematology/ oncology with the Navy Medical Oncology Branch.
He holds certification by the American Board of Internal Medicine in the subspecialties of medical oncology and hematology, and licensure in Maryland and the District of Columbia. Dr. Dahut has varied medical experience, including work as an attending physician on the emergency medicine staff of the Naval Hospital at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, and as a hematologist/oncologist with the National Naval Medical Center. Until 1999, Dr. Dahut served as assistant professor of medicine in the Department of Medicine at Georgetown University, where he also was a member of its institutional review board.
He has worked actively with the Lombardi Cancer Center, both as a hematologist/ oncologist and as a member of its clinical research committee. Previous academic appointments were with the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences. Dr. Dahut has held membership in a number of professional societies, such as the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the American Association for Cancer Researchers, and the American College of Physicians. He has reviewed submissions to leading medical journals including Cancer Research, Clinical Center Research, and Contemporary Oncology. Dr. Dahut 's primary research interest has been the development of new treatments for adenocarcinoma of the prostate.
