CA-PATIENT-ED Listserv

CA-PATIENT-ED is a listserv for cancer patient educators. The listserv is designed to improve information sharing and communication amongst cancer patient educators and the National Cancer Institute. We hope this tool will be used to stimulate new ideas, approaches, and information sharing. It is also our hope that we can identify and further disseminate approaches in patient education that are research tested and effective.

Cancer Patient Education Network (CPEN)

The Cancer Patient Education Network (CPEN) is a professional society of healthcare providers who share experiences and best practices on all aspects of cancer patient education. Members include health educators, nurses, chaplains, social workers, researchers, and others who have an aspect of their job dedicated to cancer patient education. This sharing takes place primarily through a listserv, committee participation, and annual meetings.

CPEN promotes and provides models of excellence in patient, family, and community education across the continuum of care through networking, mentoring, collaborating, sharing best practice resources, guidelines, standards and evidence-based research.

For information on how to join, visit the Cancer Patient Education Network 's Web site at http://www.cancerpatienteducation.org

Cancer Education (R25E) Grants Program
http://grants1.nih.gov/grants/guide/pa-files/PAR-05-065.html

Educational and research dissemination activities are essential components of NCI's efforts to reduce morbidity and mortality due to cancer. This funding opportunity provides support: for innovative educational programs to motivate biomedical and other health science students to pursue cancer related careers; for short courses to update cancer research scientists in new scientific methods, technologies and findings; and for training of cancer care clinicians and community health care providers in evidence-based cancer prevention and control approaches. The funding opportunity also supports grants to develop effective approaches to dissemination of research knowledge related to cancer prevention and control.
