Mission

We apply our research techniques and models to:

• create earthquake-proof buildings,

• reduce greenhouse gases

• evaluate radioactive waste disposal options,

• safely store radioactive waste,

• and remediate soil and groundwater.

Goal

We explore the fundamental properties of earth materials (solids and fluids) for a wide range of EES Division programs, including environmental programs, national defense programs, and basic research. Our results are used to model how geological materials evolve in response to environmental changes.
