Sea Launch Demonstration: The Sea Launch Limited Partnership successfully launched a Zenit 3-SL launch vehicle on March 27, 1999 at 8:30 p.m. EST from a self-propelled, converted oil-platform in international waters in the Pacific Ocean. The Sea Launch Demonstration is an inactive payload demonstrating Sea Launch's capabilities. Sea Launch is an international commercial partnership whose partners consist of Boeing Commercial Space Company of the United States, RSC Energia of Russia, KB Yuzhnoye of Ukraine, and Kvaerner Maritime a.s. of Norway.
