GEOSAT F/O / Taurus

Orbital Sciences Corporation launched a Taurus launch vehicle on February 9, 1998, from Vandenberg Air Force Base, California. This was the first FAA-licensed Taurus launch and only the second launch overall of a Taurus vehicle. It carried the GeoSat Follow-On (GFO) and two ORBCOMM satellites to low earth orbit. The Navy's GFO program consists of a series of radar altimeter satellites to maintain continuous ocean observation. ORBCOMM is a mobile satellite service provider offering high-value, two-way data and messaging communications globally. The completed ORBCOMM system will consist of 36 satellites. Currently, 12 satellites have been launched.
