On September 6, 2006 CMS issued additional guidance on the Medicaid Transformation Grants authorized by Section 6081 of the Deficit Reduction Act (DRA) of 2005 (P.L. No. 109-171). Under the grant program, $150 million over 2007 and 2008 are made available to states to fund research and design ways to transform their Medicaid systems and to increase quality and efficiency of care. The State Medicaid Director (SMD) Letter available through the link below informs the states that (1) the application deadline has been extended until Monday, October 2, 2006 11:59 p.m. and (2) the notification of the grant awards will be made in November, 2006. All other grant application requirements remain the same as those communicated in the July 25, 2006 SMD Letter and related Enclosures A and B. |
