DENVER, Co. -- Officials from the Colorado Division of Emergency Management (CDEM) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) want to remind residents of Larimer and Weld counties that three weeks remain to register for federal disaster assistance.  July 25 is the last day to register with FEMA for Individual Assistance and to submit a U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) disaster loan application for property damage.

All Larimer and Weld county residents are urged to register for assistance by calling 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.  The TTY number is 1-800-462-7585 for those who are speech or hearing impaired.  Applicants also can register online at www.fema.gov.  For those who are already registered, the helpline is available to check the status of the application, or update individual information.

Low-interest disaster loans from SBA are available to homeowners, renters, businesses of all sizes, and private, non-profit organizations to repair or replace disaster-damaged or destroyed real estate, personal property and business property.

Homeowners and renters who have registered with FEMA and been referred to SBA are strongly encouraged to complete and return an SBA disaster loan application, even if they do not know if they will need or want a loan.  In most cases, if SBA is not able to approve a loan for a homeowner or renter SBA will refer them to FEMA for further review of any unmet needs.

Mail completed SBA applications to; U.S. Small Business Administration, Processing and Disbursement Center, 14925 Kingsport Road, Fort Worth, TX 76155-2243.  Additional information is available by calling SBA's Customer Service Center at 1-800-659-2955, emailing disastercustomerservice@sba.gov or visiting SBA's website at www.sba.gov/services/disasterassistance.  Hearing impaired individuals may contact SBA at 1-800-877 8339.  The deadline to return SBA economic injury loan applications is February 26, 2009.

FEMA coordinates the federal government's role in preparing for, preventing, mitigating the effects of, responding to, and recovering from all domestic disasters, whether natural or man-made, including acts of terrorism.
