About the Mid South Healthcare Network (VISN 9)
The Mid South Veterans Healthcare (Mid South) Network is an integrated healthcare delivery system comprised of seven anchor Joint Commission accredited medical centers. More than 120,000 veterans annually seek care at one of its facilities located in Lexington and Louisville, Kentucky; Memphis, Mountain Home, Murfreesboro, and Nashville, Tennessee; and Huntington, West Virginia and 27 outpatient centers located throughout the catchment area. Over one million veterans reside in its service area.

Our Mission
The Mid South Network's mission is to meet the healthcare needs of veterans with excellence in value, quality, service, education and research. From primary care to the latest medical technologies and research, the Network is a healthcare leader and innovator nationwide as well as in the communities it serves.

Over 10,000 full time staff are dedicated to providing area veterans a full range of quality and cost-effective medical, specialty, psychiatric, and extended care services. The Network maintains five nursing home care units, two long term psychiatric care programs, a multi-state domiciliary, regional referral centers for spinal cord injuries and prosthetics and national referral centers for all solid organ transplants, flow cytometry and photopheresis. It is a vital link to the education and training of area healthcare professionals through the Network's affiliations with seven medical schools. These same affiliations support basic, clinical and applied research in a variety of areas to further enhance patient care.

A high priority for the Mid South Network is not only the scope of services provided, but how those services are delivered. Improving customer satisfaction, service efficiencies and more convenient access to primary and preventive care are key areas of focus to ensure the Network is the healthcare provider of choice for veterans.

Our Partners
The Network is currently working with a number of partners including the Department of Defense and state health departments within its geographic boundaries to enable veterans to obtain convenient and quality healthcare thirty minutes or thirty miles from home. A Management Assistance Council provides key stakeholder groups a forum regarding healthcare delivery and customer satisfaction. Each medical center further encourages stakeholder participation through facility committees and task forces to ensure additional grassroots involvement.

The Network's resources and customer service attitude extend far beyond the walls of its facilities to support the broader needs of the communities it serves. All seven facilities are chamber of commerce members, partners with local and state government agencies, and active participants in local education programs, community health initiatives, and the United Way.
