[Photograph]: Planting trees. The Forest Service has a wide variety of publications available to the public. However, content, availability, and assortment vary greatly by Forest. It is best to contact your local forest or area of interest to determine what will be most appropriate for your needs.

We are also in the process of adding popular brochures to the publications section of this website. Check there often for new publications as they become available.

Map of the Intermountain Region

This Intermountain Region map is available for downloading. It shows the different forest boundaries within the Region, as well as major highways, landmarks and the cities that a Forest Service Office can be located. Brochures

The Forest Service Intermountain Region has a wide variety of recreation information and educational brochures on a large assortment of topics. Please contact your local Forest Service Office or area of interest for specific information.

 

USGS Maps

Highly detailed maps, including quadrangle maps can be purchased through the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) or its retail partners. Visit their website or call 1-888-ASK-USGS.

 

Geographic Information Systems (GIS) MAPS

GIS labs create, update and maintain all the geographic information, maps and datasets for the Region and Forests. That information is available to geographic data users as well as the general public.

Travel Plan Maps

Travel plan maps are a great resource for those who enjoy Off Road Vehicle use on National Forests. Travel Plan maps illustrate trails where OHV use is authorized and help you avoid traveling on unathorized trails. For a copy of the Travel Plan maps contact your local Forest Service Office or the area of interest.


Trail Maps

The Forest Service Intermountain Region offers several types of trail maps, many specific to recreational activities such as cross-country skiing, backpacking and snowmobiling. However, availabiliy varies by Forest. Please contact your local Forest Service Office or area of interest for additional information.
