Employers' right to protest and appeal an L&I decision about their
workers' compensation premiums
A protest is also known as a "request for reconsideration."
If L&I has sent you one of the following:
- A Notice and Order of Assessment (NOA) within the last 30 days,
or
- A Revocation of Coverage, Classification Change or Rate Notice within
the last 60 days,
then you have the right to protest or appeal L&I's decison.
- You may file a protest or "request for reconsideration" with L&I.
If you file a protest, then L&I will review its decision and issue a new order. If you still disagree...
- You may appeal to the Board of Industrial Insurance Appeals (BIIA).
