Texas-Louisiana Shelf Circulation and Transport Processes Study:
Synthesis Report
Volume I, Technical Report and Volume II, Appendices

OCS Study MMS 98-0035 and MMS 98-0036

The Minerals Management Service (MMS), Gulf of Mexico OCS Region, announces the availability of a new study report,Texas-Louisiana Shelf Circulation and Transport Processes Study: Synthesis Report - Volume I, Technical Report and Volume II, Appendices.

The study area encompassed the Texas-Louisiana shelf between the 10- and 1,000-m isobaths, and from 90.5° W and 26° N near Texas. Inside this region, 18 mooring cruises, 10 hydrographic surveys, and 31 current moorings were completed during a 30-month field effort. This study identifies dynamical processes governing circulation, transport, and cross-shelf mixing; synthesizes the data into a scheme of circulation, transport, and mixing rates; develops conceptual models of meso- to large-scale processes and circulation on events to seasonal scales; and provides physical and chemical information for synthesis, with biological data and characterization of the ecology of the region.
