Percent distribution of reported AIDS cases among male adults and adolescents in the Northeast (number of cases = 6,581, which includes persons of unknown race or multiple races). Broken out by population size and race/ethnicity: In MSA >= 500,000 27.2 percent of cases are White; 43.2 percent are Black/African American; 26.4 percent are Hispanic/Latino; 1.7 percent are Asian/Pacific Islander; 0.2 percent are American Indian/Alaska Native. In MSA of 50,000 to 499,999 43.4 percent of cases are White; 28.2 percent are Black/African American; 22.9 percent are Hispanic/Latino; 1.4 percent are Asian/Pacific Islander; 0.0 percent are American Indian/Alaska Native. In nonmetropolitan areas, 31.2 percent of cases are White; 59.6 percent are Black/African American; 7.6 percent are Hispanic/Latino; 0.3 percent are Asian/Pacific Islander; 0.7 percent are American Indian/Alaska Native.

In MSA of 50,000 to 499,999 57.3 percent of cases are White; 11.9 percent are Black/African American; 24.1 percent are Hispanic/Latino; 3 percent are Asian/Pacific Islander; 3 percent are American Indian/Alaska Native. In nonmetropolitan areas, 62.3 percent of cases are White; 7.4 percent are Black/African American; 18.9 percent are Hispanic/Latino; 1.7 percent are Asian/Pacific Islander; 8 percent are American Indian/Alaska Native.
