Private First Class Frederick C. Murphy

The Boston facility is located on the Frederick C. Murphy Federal Center. Private First Class Frederick C. Murphy was a U.S. Army medic in World War II who earned the Congressional Medal of Honor posthumously for acts of exceptional courage and bravery on March 18, 1945, at Saarlautern, Germany. An exhibit documenting his heroic deeds is on permanent display in the facility's lobby.

The facility encompasses approximately 125,000 square feet of space, including 115,000 square feet of warehouse space. The facility has a cubic foot capacity for Federal records of approximately 620,000. The records stored at the facility are protected through the use of intrusion alarms, a fire alarm and sprinkler system, and an integrated pest management system.

Lockers for the secure storage of personal belongings, a public telephone, and ample free parking are available. The facility is wheelchair accessible.
