E-Records Forum!   August 25, 2009

Mark your calendar for our annual E-Records Forum at the Michigan Department of History, Arts and Libraries, Lansing, Michigan, Tuesday, August 25.

Our keynote speaker will be Kenneth Thibodeau, Director of NARA's Electronic Records Archives (ERA) Program and the ERA Research Program. He will speak to us one year from ERA's initial launch about challenges, opportunities, lessons learned, and next steps for this "archive of the future" present here and now.

Dr. Thibodeau joined NARA's Machine-Readable Archives Division in 1975, part of NARA's pioneering effort to deal with electronic records. In the 1990s he was detailed to the Department of Defense where he directed the development of the world's first standard for records management software, known in its current state as the "DoD 5015.2 Standard." His advocacy was instrumental in bringing ERA into existence, and his direction of that program has secured for NARA a crucial role in shaping the Government's investment in IT research. In December 2008 he received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Archivist of the United States.

As always, the E-Forum is open to all, and free. Your registration will help ensure we are prepared for all attendees. To register, or for more information, please contact Marybelle Yeazel, 937-425-0624.
