FSL's High Performance Computing System

The Forecast Systems Laboratory is starting a new quarter for projects on its High Performance Computing System (known as Jet). This is the first allocation quarter that includes the recent upgrade to Jet. The projects were reviewed on the basis of scientific merit and their appropriateness for a commodity distributed memory machine such as Jet. Included amongst the projects are ocean modeling, climate modeling, atmospheric modeling, and air quality modeling. The new projects on Jet represent a wide cross-section of the NOAA community including eight of the NOAA Research Laboratories (AL, AOML, ARL, CDC, ETL, FSL, NSSL, and PMEL) and the NESDIS/National Geophysical Data Center.
