NOAA Weather Service/Seattle and OR&R Joint Web Product Completed

Responding to Disasters Title Slide

Since 1970, OR&R has worked with the National Weather Service. During an oil or chemical spill response, the National Weather Service provides weather support to the local response Incident Command with forecasts from the local Weather Service office. Weather forecasts are also used by NOAA emergency responders for input to trajectory models, conducting safe field operations, and overflights.  An articulated PowerPoint Web presentation about the cooperative effort made by NOAA Weather Service and OR&R’s Emergency Response Division to address hazardous material disasters and mitigation was completed recently.  Its target audience is the public, and the presentation resides on the Weather Service Web site, a site that receives many visits by interested public each day.
