Network Operations Center (NOC)

The Network Operations Center’s (NOC) staff works to ensure reliable network service using network monitoring stations, LAN analysis software, and hardware diagnostic tools to continuously monitor NIHnet. The staff communicates with NIH Technical LAN Coordinators (TLCs) often and contacts them promptly when network issues arise. TLCs are indispensable partners, serving as liaisons to users and helping to resolve NIHnet problems.

The NOC cooperates with the CIT’s Desktop Computer Support in responding to incoming customer contacts and with the CIT operations staff to handle off-hours problem reporting. Senior NOC technical staff are on-call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to troubleshoot and resolve NIHnet problems and handle customer contacts.
