Program Description

This program is designed to improve the education opportunities and achievement of preschool, elementary, and secondary school Indian children by developing, testing, and demonstrating effective services and programs.

Types of Projects

The absolute funding priorities for the program in FY 2008 limit project services to: (1) school readiness projects that provide age appropriate educational programs and language skills to three- and four-year-old Indian students to prepare them for successful entry into school at the kindergarten level; and (2) college preparatory programs for secondary school students designed to increase competency and skills in challenging subject matter, including mathematics and science, to enable Indian students to transition to postsecondary education.
