簡介
為確定高血壓、血清膽固醇以及糖化血紅蛋白的人體測量學和健康相關因素,我們研究了洛杉磯市區兩所中學年齡在11到13歲的少數種族/族裔兒童的人體測量學和生理學生物指標。我們探查了使用肥胖症或健康水準作為在這些學生中篩查心血管疾病危險因素變數的潛力。

方法
在定期安排的身體活動教育課程中,我們收集了以下方面的資料:人口統計學特徵、身高、體重、血壓、不空腹血清總膽固醇、糖化血紅蛋白、跑/走1英里所用時間以及一系列自我報告的行為。共有199名六年級學生(121名拉丁美洲人,78名非洲裔美國人)參與了本研究。

結果
二元分析提示,48.6%的六年級學生體重理想,17.5%超重,29.9%有超重的風險,還有4.0%體重偏低。較高的體重與較高的血清膽固醇水準、收縮血壓和舒張血壓有關(所有關聯的 P值<0.02),但與糖化血紅蛋白無關。多元分析的結果在血壓方面與上述結果一致,但在血清膽固醇方面不一致。

結論
超重狀態可以是確定處於高血壓風險的青少年之篩查變數。預防肥胖症和干預計劃及政策需要針對低收入少數種族/族裔的兒童。可能還應在低收入少數種族/族裔的六年級學生中進行高血壓狀態的評估,並在高風險兒童中採取早期干預措施。
