Scope of Interests
Our primary topics of interest are:
- Prevention, screening, surveillance, and population-based intervention
of diseases, including but not limited to arthritis, asthma,
cancer, depression, diabetes, obesity, and cardiovascular disease
- Mental health
- Oral health
- Reproductive health
- Injury prevention and control
- Health risk behavior
- Comprehensive, multidisciplinary approaches to disease prevention and
health promotion at various levels: national, state, community, work,
and school
- Effects on public health of
nonhealth factors, such as economics, social mores, housing, environment,
insurance, and medical systems
- Effects on health of such factors as nutrition, physical activity,
substance abuse (including tobacco, alcohol, and other drugs), and
genetics
- Health issues and disparities affecting
specific populations: racial, ethnic, adolescent, adult, maternal, aging,
sex-related,
health-vulnerable, urban, rural, and others
- The value of policy and
legislation in preventing chronic disease
- Applied qualitative and
quantitative research into the prevention and control of chronic disease
- Public health tools and techniques, such as multimedia communication,
surveys, theoretical models, biostatistics, and interactive educational
tools
