Education and Outreach

Educational services and activities developed by the War Related Illness and Injury Study Center at the Washington, DC VA Medical Center (WRIISC-DC) are offered to veterans, veteran healthcare providers and service organizations, and students.

Educational activities provided by WRIISC-DC serve veterans at the individual and group level. Individualized health education sessions are offered through the outpatient and inpatient clinics. WRIISC also offers group classes for combat veterans.

The development of educational conferences and training opportunities for health professionals is an important goal of WRIISC-DC. Through these programs, healthcare providers can enrich and update their knowledge about the etiology, diagnosis, and treatment of war-related illness and injury.

The education of medical or graduate students and residents is also provided through clinical fellowship tracks within the WRIISC-DC. Students and residents have the opportunity to specialize in healthcare for combat veterans.
