Dennis Daellenbach Named Director of Gerald R. Ford Library and Museum
College Park, MD. . . Archivist of the United States John W. Carlin announced today the selection of Dennis A. Daellenbach as director of the Gerald R. Ford Library and Museum. The Library is located in Ann Arbor, Michigan and the Museum is located in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The Ford historical materials include more than 21 million pages of official and personal papers, 326,000 photographs, and 8,000 Presidential gifts. These primary sources document President Ford's tenure as Congressman, Vice President, and President.
Mr. Daellenbach has been part of the Presidential Library system of the National Archives and Records Administration for 28 years, working at the Eisenhower Library, 1972-77, the Ford Library, 1977-91, and the Reagan Library, 1991 to the present. Mr. Daellenbach is currently the Assistant Director of the Reagan Library where he oversees the administration and facility management for the library, and is responsible for the planning, development and implementation of Library policies and programs. He has also initiated educational programming for the Library and established liaisons with educational institutions.
In making the selection, Archivist Carlin said: "I am delighted that Dennis has agreed to become the next director of the Ford Library. He brings nearly three decades of archival experience to the job. He knows the Presidential library system and the records of the Ford Presidency and is uniquely qualified to continue to reach out to the communities that are served by the Library and the Museum."
Mr. Daellenbach received a Ph.D. in U.S. diplomatic history from Kansas University in 1982. He has taught history at Kansas University, the Henry Ford Community College, and the University of Michigan and has presented papers on a wide range of archival subjects to professional meetings nationwide.
The Gerald Ford Library and Museum is administered by the National Archives and Records Administration.
