Browser Information
TEAS is a web-based application that requires a web browser version at or above that of: Microsoft Internet Explorer (IE) 5.5, Netscape Navigator 7.0, FireFox/Mozilla 1.0, Safari 2.0. USPTO does not endorse these products; however, these are the browsers that support TEAS features: frames, JavaScript, and file upload. If your browser does not meet, or exceed these standards, you may acquire these web browsers at:
- Microsoft Internet Explorer (IE)
- Netscape
- Mozilla
Workaround for Image Attachment using IE on Macintosh:
If you are using the Internet Explorer on the Macintosh, follow this workaround to ensure your image can be properly attached. Internet Explorer on the Macintosh platform will not permit a proper image attachment. Instead, IE on a Windows platform can be used with a properly saved image from the Macintosh. Images created on a Macintosh using Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator must be saved with an appended file extensions of .jpg for use on a Windows system.
Steps to enable JavaScript in Microsoft Internet Explorer 5 or Later:
1. Open the Internet Explorer browser.
2. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
3. On the Security tab, click Internet.
4. Click Custom Level.
5. Scroll down to Active scripting.
6. Click Enable (or Prompt).
7. Click OK.
8. Click Yes.
9. Click OK.
10. Click Refresh.
Steps to enable JavaScript in Netscape 7:
1. Open the Netscape browser.
2. On the Edit menu, click Preferences.
3. Double click Advanced in the Category list.
4. Select Scripts & Plugins from the menu.
5. Under the “Enable JavaScript for” section, check the box next to Navigator.
6. Check the boxes under “Allow scripts to” section.
7. Click OK.
8. Click Reload.
Steps to enable JavaScript in Mozilla:
1. Open Mozilla.
2. On the Edit menu, click Preferences.
3. Double click Advanced in the Category list.
4. Select Scripts & Plugins from the menu.
5. Under the “Enable JavaScript for” section, check the box next to Navigator.
6. Check the boxes under “Allow scripts to” section.
7. Click OK.
Steps to enable JavaScript in Firefox 1.xx series:
1. Open Firefox.
2. On the Tools menu, click Options.
3. Click Web Features in the Options list.
4. Under the Web Features section, check the box next to Enable JavaScript.
5. Click the Advanced button to open the Advanced JavaScript Options box.
6. Check the boxes under “Allow scripts to” section.
7. Click OK.
8. Click OK
9. Click Reload
Steps to enable JavaScript in Safari 2.0+:
1. Open Safari.
2. On the Safari menu, click Preferences.
3. Click Security.
4. Check both Enable Java and Enable JavaScript.
5. Close the window.
6. Click Reload.
