Since its establishment in 1984, the Office of Commercial Space Transportation (AST) has made many contributions that improve our lives on Earth, by licensing expendable and reusable launch vehicles and the operation of launch sites. Through activities ranging from launching satellites into orbit, to "zero gravity" trips in aircraft, to space camps," the space industry is estimated to approximate $1 billion per year.

Few people link space to business opportunities or career choices, other than perhaps as astronauts. Here we explore the connection between the math, science, and technology classes students take in classrooms across America and commercial space transportation.
