Dangerous Cold Expected Through This Morning

Cold Temperatures:

The very cold air mass, reminiscent of the January 29 through February 5 1996 cold wave (however not quite as long or as severe), will continue to reside across the area this morning.  Temperatures through mid morning will likely range from 20 to 35 below and then slowly climb toward zero and the single digits by mid afternoon today.   The temperatures will then continue to slowly rise through tonight and Saturday.  The high temperatures for both Saturday and Sunday will range from the mid teens to lower 20s.  These temperatures are still a bit below normal, but they will feel much more comfortable than what we've seen much of this week.

Wind Chills:

Wind chills will remain between 30 and 45 degrees below zero this morning.  Wind chills this cold will cause frost bite to exposed skin within minutes.  As a result, any time spent outside through this morning should be limited as much as possible.
