Ideas to Reduce Work-Related Musculoskeletal Disorders

Roof Bolt Bender

Old Way:Bend the bolt with the hands, or step on the bolt with one foot while holding one end of the bolt in the hands. The risks include excessive forces on the hands, arms, and back and slipping due to awkward postures
New Way:Weld a sturdy pipe under the bolting machine. Insert the bolt into the pipe, then bend. The pipe provides leverage and allows the use of body weight, thus reducing the forces on the arms and back. It also allows for a more stable posture, reducing the likelihood of slipping.
