  NHSC LRP Payment Amount
  Question
What is the amount of loan repayment clinicians are eligible to receive from the National Health Service Corps Loan Repayment Program?
  Answer

For the first 2 years of service, the National Health Service Corps Loan Repayment Program will pay up to $50,000, based on the participant's outstanding balance of qualifying educational loans. If the total amount of the participant's qualifying educational loans is less than $50,000, the NHSC LRP will pay the outstanding balance of the qualifying educational loans.

All loan repayments paid to the participant must be used by the participant to repay the approved qualifying educational loans within 45 days of receipt of funds.

The loan repayments are exempt from gross income and employment taxes. These funds are not included as wages when determining benefits under the Social Security Act.
