E-Gov

NOAA has long recognized the advantages afforded by using the Internet and computer resources in providing an incredible variety of services and support for the public ranging from the local weather forecast, to a sustainable supply of quality seafood, to the safe transport of millions of tons of waterborne cargo, to keep the ocean coastline safe and vibrant, and to maintain detailed research on the climate from the frozen arctic to the depths of the oceans.

The NOAA Office of the Chief Information Officer promotes the principles of E-Government through its capital planning and investment process; the review of all information collections from the public to identify opportunities to make the processes electronic; participation in the E-Government initiatives and lines of business that promote the President's E-Government Management Agenda; and annual reports to the Office of Management and Budget on progress in implementing the E-Government Act.
