Soto Cano Air Base, Honduras, is a Honduran Air Base and home of the Honduran Air Force Academy, located approximately 50 miles northwest of the capital city of Tegucigalpa, near Comayagua.

Joint Task Force-Bravo
JTF-Bravo is an American task force stationed at Soto Cano Air Base.  Its primary mission is to support and conduct joint, combined and interagency operations in the Joint Operations Area, to enhance regional cooperative security initiatives and support democratic development. JTF-Bravo supports U.S. interests in Central America by building regional cooperative security, developing military roles and missions, supporting the National Counterdrug Strategy, and exercising combined forces.

SAN MIGUEL, Costa Rica -- Four helicopters and 34 servicemembers from Joint Task Force-Bravo at Soto Cano Air Base, Honduras, began flying search and rescue missions Saturday in the vicinity of San Miguel and continued their search for victims Sunday after a magnitude 6.1 earthquake struck here Thursday.

JTF-Bravo provides life saving assistance to flood affected regions of Costa Rica, Panama
  Joint Task Force Bravo assists flooded regions of Panama and Costa Rica
LIMON, COSTA RICA -- A task force of 20 U.S. military personnel and two UH 60 Blackhawks from Joint Task Force-Bravo in Honduras arrived here Nov. 25 to provide life saving assistance to Panamanian and Costa Rican civilians affected by recent flooding. Missions will be conducted in close coordination with the national disaster response organizations of the respective countries.

SOTO CANO AIR BASE, Honduras -- More than 110 U.S. servicemembers and Airmen from the Honduran Air Force Academy participated in a chapel hike Nov. 22 delivering more than 1,500 pounds of food to the village of El Negrito.

Joint Task Force Bravo Contributions

Donation Program:
Excess Property Program
- Donated office and school furniture, computers, hardware, and medical equipment to various governmental, military, local institutions, orphanages and non profit organizations in Honduras. , JTF-Bravo has donated more than $165,000 worth of excess materials.

Monthly "Chapel Hike" - Transports and delivers supplies such as cooking oil, rice and other staple supplies to people living in rural Honduran communities.

Local Orphanages - Base personnel sponsor three orphanages providing goods and interaction with the children at least monthly.

Coordinated donations:
Denton Program Support
- Humanitarian Air Transportation Aid for non profit organizations and institutions in Central America. A total of 74,370 pounds moved this year.

Southern Command - Donated 320 pairs of shoes for children at three orphanages.

Give a kid a backpack - Assisted with the distributtion of  more than 700 backpacks to six schools in La Paz and Comayagua.
