MIG
The Mycobacterial Special Interest Group is open to all those who are interested. The group is focused on the study of the genus of Mycobacteria, which are responsible for the most deadly infectious diseases of mankind, including tuberculosis and leprosy, and now the nontuberculous Mycobacteria in immunosuppressed patients, especially the HIV+. We are a coalition of microbiologists, molecular biologists, immunologists, chemists, epidemiologists, and others. Interests of those in the group include vaccine and drug design, virulence mechanisms, pathogenesis, and biology of the bacilli along with human host defence mechanisms. Please contact Dr. Barry if you wish to present at one of our meetings and email asampson@niaid.nih.gov if you wish to join the MIG.
