The server housing MyLibrary cannot be accredited and therefore must be retired.  This provided us an opportunity to take a long, hard look at the product.  We have determined that the needs addressed by MyLibrary when it was developed can now be met using other tools.  Therefore, MyLibrary is being discontinued.

A significant need MyLibrary addressed was to manage your circulation record in our previous system.  When we migrated to our new Library system in the fall of 2005, that need was eliminated.  Now to manage your circulation account, you can login from the online catalog.   The link Login to My Account appears in the upper right-hand corner of every page and a cryptocard is required to proceed.

Another use of MyLibrary was to manage links to frequently scanned journals or to article PDFs needed for reference.  A straight-forward way to do this is to simply utilize the bookmark feature in your browser. 

Another tool, developed by the Nature Publishing Group, is Connotea.  This tool enables you to access your bookmarks through the web.

Connotea requires that you sign up for an account.  You then add bookmarks to what they refer to as, “My Library.”  Also, as in the Library’s product, you can use a bookmarklet to add links to Connotea.  To successfully link to any library-subscribed journals, you must be at your lab computer or authenticated as a laboratory user via EZProxy.  Bookmarks may be enhanced by adding tags, descriptions, and comments.

Connotea is designed as a collaborative tool.  Therefore, the default is to share your bookmarks with the greater Connotea community.  Other options include to share bookmarks only with members of a group, just like shared libraries.  Or you may designate certain bookmarks to be private.
