Work Objectives:
- Assist in one of the major functions of the CDC/GAP-Uganda collaboration with the Ministry of Health and the U.S. Embassy in strengthening the capacities of Ugandan health institutions to: a) prevent HIV transmission and opportunistic infections, b) successfully implement HIV prevention c) care, d) support programs and e) expand surveillance activities.
- Provide operations and management support.
- STOP Team members : a) promote, conduct and evaluate active surveillance for acute flaccid paralysis b) conduct case investigations and follow-up c) plan, implement and evaluate National Immunization Days and house-to-house "mopping up" activities. Work environments are extremely challenging and may include extremes of temperature, lack of electricity, lack of adequate medical facilities, poor sanitation, inconsistent water supply, and rugged traveling conditions.
