Work Objectives:
- Asst the major function of the CDC/WHO collaborating center with the Guinea Worm Eradication Program (GWEP) by strengthening the capacities of the Ghana Red Cross Society to assist the Ghanaian Ministry of Health in achieving guinea worm eradication.
- Provide management and operational support including support with cooperative agreements, contract development, implementation, and management.
- In conjunction with national counterparts, work with STOP team to promote, conduct, and evaluate active surveillance for acute flaccid paralysis, conduct polio case investigations and follow-up, as well as plan, implement and evaluate National Immunization Days and house-to-house 'mopping up' immunizations.
- Assist the Ghana Red Cross Society to train women's club volunteers in active surveillance, filter distribution and prevention in over 400 villages.
