Work Objectives:
- Assist in one of the major functions of the CDC collaboration in strengthening the capacities of the Kenyan Government and non-government health institutions for HIV surveillance, prevention, care and support programs.
- Assist in enhancing and strengthening communication of information between the CDC/KEMRI research program supervisors and their consumers, non-medical professional audiences, students and trainees through the development of guidelines and procedures.
- STOP Team members: a) promote, conduct, and evaluate active surveillance for acute flaccid paralysis; b) conduct polio case investigations and follow-up; and c) plan, implement, and evaluate National Immunization Days and house-to-house "mopping up" activities. Work environments are extremely challenging and may include extremes of temperature, lack of electricity, lack of adequate medical facilities, poor sanitation, inconsistent water supply, and rugged traveling conditions.
