Arizona State University Geographer Receives Presidential Science Award

Arizona State University geographer Paul Torrens is among the newest recipients of the competitive Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers. Torrens, an associate professor in the School of Geographical Sciences was recognized December 19 in a White House ceremony for his innovative, immersive 3-D computational modeling, which is designed to help predict social behavior in crowds: riot situations, pedestrian behavior, behavior of shoppers and along retail streets.
