DLA pioneered the concept of a DoD EMALL that shows the end consumer both DoD and industry inventory. Contracting is taken care of in advance of the customers need thus freeing the customer to be concerned only about meeting their requirement. The customer is empowered with the information to easily search, find, compare and order the item that best suites their need. The customer can register on line and order immediately. The system uses the latest commercial technology to secure the transactions and the websites. The customer can search in a variety of ways, pay by Government Purchase Card or Military Fund Site. Order status is in one place regardless of the source of supply.
Sales, users and items on the EMALL are growing as we bring more catalogs into the system.
The FY 1999 Defense Authorization Act required the Department to establish a single EMALL. On Jan 30 2001, the DASD DCIO designated DLA as the executive agent. We are working with the Defense Reform Offices Change Management Center and the eB BoD to bring the Department into compliance with the legislation.
