State and federal wildland fire agencies: working together from coast to coast, Alaska to Florida

Our State partners go by many names, such as the Florida Division of Forestry, The Arizona State Land Department-Fire Management Division, the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, the California Division of Forestry and Fire Protection and the Alaska Forest Service. Each has a unique role in their state for fire protection and coordination with Federal agencies for mutual fire assistance.

The USDA Forest Service State and Private Forestry, offers programs to cooperate with and assist State wildland fire agencies. Through our State partners, the Forest Service also helps rural and volunteer fire departments with grants, training, and equipment.

In addition, State wildland fire agencies and the Forest Service work together on many fuel reduction and fire prevention projects across the country. Together, we are working hard to reduce fire risk from wildland fire in wildland/urban interface communities.
