Royce Vaughn trained at the Adjutant Generals' School at Fort Benjamin Harrison in Indianapolis, Indiana, and Flak Kaserne, Germany. During the Korean Conflict he served as a platoon sergeant and aide to Commanding Generals Sexton, Partridge and Woolknough in Augsburg, Germany, producing charts and graphics for maneuvers and instructional materials. On returning stateside, he was in charge of the crafts shop at Ft. Ord outside Monterey, California, until his honorable discharge in 1957.
Vaughn combines his interest in art with educational and vocational opportunities. He founded and directed the Arts and Business Learning Experiences (Project ABLE) for minority youth as well as the Oceanview/Merced/Ingleside Business League (OMIBL) and has received numerous awards for his work. His California Collectors Series company, www.originalnotecards.com, is based on original watercolors and oil paintings of California landmarks.
